The Dutchess County crash took place around 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, on Linden Avenue, north of Park Avenue in Red Hook, said Red Hook Police.

Red Hook officers arrived on scene within one minute of being dispatched and located a vehicle off the east shoulder of the roadway into a tree.

The driver, later identified as Jacqueline Rodríguez, of Red Hook, was in and out of consciousness and being tended to by Good Samaritans, police said.

Rodríguez was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated from the car using the jaws of life. She was then transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie but later transported to Westchester Medical Center where she was placed in a medically induced coma with a severe head injury, police said.

An investigation revealed Rodriguez was southbound on Linden Avenue and due to unsafe speed and wet road conditions, she lost control of her 1998 Lexus, slid off the roadway striking a tree.

Red Hook Police were assisted on scene by Mobile Life Support Services, Red Hook Fire Company, New York State Police, and the Dutchess County Sheriffs Office.
